24日までごった返してた街中が急に静になりました。前回の経験から想定の範囲内です。ほとんどのお店が開いてません。

The city suddenly got quiet after the busy busy pre holiday chaos. Yes we knew it from the last time. Most of the stores in the city are closed.
今日は午後からCYCAに集合。昨日に引き続き快晴。日差しが刺さります。
We got together at CYCA in the afternoon doday. The weather was so nice although the sunlight is a bit harsh on us.
船上でミーティングです。Had a team meeting on the boat.
PLBの操作方法の確認はじめ、安全に関することはしっかりと確認します。
We especially took time to reaffirm safety related stuff such as how to use PLB.
シドニーホバートレースでは安全に関する環境は徹底的に整備されてます。そのうちの１つがロールコールの回数の多さと指示の細かさ。
1日に3回のロールコールとさらに1回のListening Scheduleという通信傍受の義務があります。ロールコール忘れると20分のペナルティ。2回目からは40分ずつ。また、特定の船のロールコールが2回連続なかった場合は、全フリートの協力のもと捜索体制の初期段階に入ります。
In this race, there are so many regulations on safety related things. One of them is the radio report. A boat needs to complete a radio report three times a day and listening schedule that a boat basically listens to what the official says once a day. So four times a day in total. If a boat fails to complete a radio report for the first time she gets 20mins penalty, then after the second time 40mins penalty for each time...Also if the committee doesn't hear from a boat for two times in a row, initial search proceadure will take place.
船上生活の注意点などのアナウンスのあとには、いよいよ気象情報の共有。
After "how to live on the boat" explanation, finally weather briefing.
北寄りが吹くスタート当日は、湾内のスタートは上り、湾を出たら南下するのでダウンウィンド。その後、その日の夜遅くから翌日の同じような時間帯まで強風上り！ぎょえ。で、オーストラリア大陸を南に抜けたら、東西から２つの高気圧に挟まれるので、その真ん中をすり抜けたいなー、なんて感じらしいです。現時点でのETAは29日昼ごろ！あくまで現時点、です。それでも毎度毎度ETAに一喜一憂するのが楽しいんですよね。妄想大会が盛り上がるのもETAが主役の時が多いです。
First start with N, so the start will be upwind, then after getting out of the bay, we will sail with down wind till the late night 26th. From there......24hrs of strong S which means upwind. Oh ya good luch team! After sailing pass the continent, we will meet two highs on our W and E, so we need to sail through between those two. ETA as of today is around noon 29th. You know this is "AS OF TODAY"!!

今回の回航から新しくなったトイレのホース。半透明になりました。私はまだ実際使ってないから分からないけど、ブツが流れていくのが見えるそうです。30回ポンピングするように！とよく座長が口を酸っぱくしてクルーに言ってますが、どうやらそれを自分の目で見て実感できるようです。30回ポンピングしないと便器→船外へ排出されないみたい。
The toilet hose was renewed. It's translucent. As I haven't used the toilet yet since it was renewed, I heard you can actually see how your "thing" goes thru the hose. You'll realize how important it is with your two eyes what Ando the delivery captain always says "pump at least 30 times after you finish!!" With less than 30 pumps, "it" does not go ouf to the ocean.
痛まないように厳重につり下げられたバナナ。船上での食料の地位は陸上でのそれに比べ格段に高いのであります。
Banana hung in the cabin in order not to go bad. You know the position of bananas is much higher on the boat than on the land.
そうそう、メインのリーフ作業の時に、メンハリのロック解除作業でトリップコードを引くのに、キャビン内のマストの横にクルー1人を張りつかせなきゃいけなく、人手をもったいないことしてたので、カムをつけました。
We installed a new system to pull the trip code for the main halyard lock. We wasted one crew standing there to pull the trip code when we reef the main sail.
写真の右下です。私がいない間に、このシステムの名前が「まゆこ」と命名されていました。オーナー含め、各々命名の背景をなんだかんだと言っていましたが、要は3年前の回航の時、メンハリロック解除の担当が私だったから、ってそれだけです。16人目として私もレースに乗せていただけるとのこと、光栄です。
Can you see the camcleat at the bottom with blue lanyard? This system was named "Mayuko" while I was not there. Ya, I was always at this position when we were delivering the boat for 10 monts. I'm glad that they will take me to the race as the 16th crew.
濃いミーティングを終えて今日は解散。いよいよ明日です。
After the long meaningful meeting, we called it a day. The race finally starts tomorrow.
私は今日まで住んでいた、回航クルー＋αが住んでいた一軒家を出て、後から到着したクルーが泊まっているホテルに移動。兄貴やパパたちとの別れを惜しみつつホテルにチェックインしたら、リュックのデザインが変わってました。白いリュックに黒のアクセント。おにぎりみたい。しらない間にやられてた。
As I left our "house in Sydney" where delivery crew have lived for weeks, it seemed I got a farewell gift from them. When I arrived at the new hotel, I realized my backpack turned into a rice ball with seaweed.
たしか以前ショートパンツのお尻が裂けた時は、これで直しなよと言われ同じくリペアシートを使った気が。リペアシート大活躍です。
I remember I also received a sail repair sheet from the team three years ago to repair the rip on my shorts butts area.
今日は25日。いつもは賑やかなキングスクロスも人通りがまばら。もちろんレストランもほとんど休み。なんとかみつけたタイ料理にありついて帰ると、回航組の家から写真が送られてきました。
After I came back from the dinner at a Thai Restaurant that was one of the rare stores opened today on Christmas, I got pictures from "the house".

OK, totally ready for tomorrow. The weather looks good. When I, as shore crew, say "good", it doesn't mean wind speed and direction on the sea. I'm just saying it's gonna be sunny!
